The MA&PA RR was a short line, running from Balt, MD to YORK, PA. Using only two foot gauge, I guess it was not the FASTEST line in the area. The ride from BALT to YORK was a scorching 2.5 Hr ride! The tired steam Locos only ran 20 MPH tops! As much as I loved this \\\'ole line, my Dad Hated it. WHY?...well, with 5 children of school age, and ALL attending Catholic School, the tuition was a killer for my father. So to save money on bus fares, etc, it was Dads responsibility to get all of us to school. The route to school took us across the tracks in TOWSON, on Susquehanna Ave. It NEVER failed...running late driving us to school, at about 8AM, the first train headed to York had to stop at the Towson Depot for passengers. The coaches stopped at the station. The engine & tender....RIGHT on the street, blocking traffic! It was at these repeated stops over 8 years, my Dad taught all 5 of us the BEST cuss words you could ever imagine. I think my Dad could make a drunken sailor blush with the language he used....OK, 1AM, I gotta go, i am bushed....
